UMBC University of Maryland - Baltimore County
"We are very interested in recruiting student athletes from your league..."  UMBC is entering an exciting era as they move ahead aggressively recruiting top-notch players to help them advance into the NCAA ranks.

 Future Graduates:
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Ice Hockey program. I assume that you are beginning to formulate your plans for your future in hockey, realizing the combination of hockey and education at the highest level are your best option. We provide this type of program, offering a high quality education and the competitive hockey environment that enables our players to grow academically and athletically.

The Men's Ice Hockey Team is entering an exciting era as we move ahead aggressively recruiting top-notch players, with the goal of establishing UMBC as an elite ACHA (club) program. We have a strong recruiting program and have successfully recruited players from Maryland, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Indiana, and Texas to name a few. Our program requires player commitment, both to academics and hockey. Our program includes:

§ Ice time 4 of 7 days per week
§ Lifting and plyometrics program
§ Team meetings to review game and practice video footage
§ Access to our Athletic Department's NCAA academic resources
§ Own locker room and equipment storage room at rink
§ Game announcers and EMT's for all home games
§ Some free attire and/or equipment discounts for players

With the tremendous support of our Athletic Department, facilities, experienced coaching staff and dedicated players, we realistically expect to compete in ACHA Nationals in the near future.

Besides having a great hockey program, UMBC is committed to the highest quality of education and dedicated to providing the finest professional and career preparation for our student-athletes. We have received national recognition for our academic programs and success in placing students into the top graduate programs (including top Business, Engineering, Medical and Art programs). Our hockey players alone have been admitted to graduate schools at Yale, MIT, North Carolina, Johns Hopkins, and UC-Berkley. Other UMBC students have recently been admitted to graduate schools at Harvard, Yale, NYU, Georgetown, Oxford University, University of Pennsylvania, American Film Institute, and more. Last year, UMBC placed the highest percentage of students into medical school in the nation - an outstanding achievement. Also, UMBC seeks to maintain a 28:1 student/teacher ratio for the majority of its classes. Below is a link to "UMBC's Achievements" - an impressive list of our academic achievements: http://www.umbc.edu/NewsEvents/awards.html

Also see our website at sta.umbc.edu//orgs/ihockey/ for more information.

We feel UMBC can provide you with the total college experience, an education, terrific environment to professionally excel, and a hockey program that will continually compete at a national level. If you are interested and would like additional information, please respond to this email or call.
